PT. MRT Installs Flood Detection Devices at West Flood Canal

Anticipating inundation during rainy season, PT. MRT Jakarta installed flood detection devices at West Flood Canal (KBB).

PT. MRT Jakarta President Director, William Sabandar stated, this flood detection devices can detect water level above the normal limit by sounding the alarm and sending signal directly to MRT.

"After receiving the signal, we are preparing immediately. All of our staffs have been trained for this," he explained, Saturday (11/2).

PT. MRT Plans to Develop Five Integrated Areas

Moreover, his side has prepared flat barrier in each stations to anticipate inundation.

According to him, Bundaran Hotel Indonesia and Dukuh Atas MRT Station are prone to inundation because its position is lower than river surface.

"Thus we have raised those two stations as high as 1.5 meters. If the water seeps in, we still have flat barrier," he mentioned.

Related to this issue, his side also coordinates routinely with Water Resources Department and Bina Marga Department to repair the drainage system near MRT Stations.

"We will hold simulation routinely thus all our employees are prepared to handle inundation problem," he asserted.
